The 1x90 airbox thing is a 3-fold issue, the 1st issue having been fixed by KTM, the 2nd issue being pretty common to all bikes, and the 3rd issue being outliers. Issue 1 - The early bikes (13-14 1190's) had a filter retention design where air could get around the filter itself because it didn't seal the filter properly.Despite a few niggles like airbox sealing, air filter access (fixed on the new design), and fuel pumps, that 1090/1190/1290 platform is a solid bike. I’d have no issues putting my money down on one. The 790/890 on the other hand is a pile of garbage. The list of problems I’ve seen on these bikes is a mile long and growing by the day. Perhaps most tantalizing is the 1090 Adventure R’s more affordable MSRP of $14,699. While the KTM’s 1050cc V-Twin delivers 21 more horsepower to the rear wheel than Honda’s 998cc parallel-Twin, the Honda’s 270-degree crank gives it a V-Twin-like feel, and its lively response is appreciated whether on the pavement or in the dirt.
I've been toying the idea of getting myself an 1090R for a while. Now I'm reading in the italian forum that the speed is limited to 200km/h. A couple of inmates actually tried and the bike cuts out at 207km/h (odometer) or 199km/h (GPS). This has been confirmed by KTM Italy, with incredibly stupid justifications.
South West United Kingdom. Having talked with my local KTM dealer this morning it would appear that on the 1290 Adventure bikes, all of them, R,S, T & even the GT, the anti-wheelie mode can not be disabled, switching off the ABS and TC leaves it working - on the 1290SDR you can purchase the Track-Pack which enables Anti-Wheelie Mode off while

First, it's clearly my mistake, since it's well known that KTM's bikes are as reliable as Japanese bikes. Maybe I'm just talking from my experience. I have owned 3 KTM's, 2 bmw's and 7 japanese bikes. 0 problem with the japanese brands, a lot of troubles with 1 bmw, small problems on 1 of my ktm's and a lot of problems on another of my ktm's.
